Nordic Components

Nordic Components rifles for SRA, IPSC and practical shooting

Nordic Components is a manufacturer of firearms and firearm accessories with Finnish roots, specialising in practical shooting. The company was founded in 2005 in the United States, and its rifles are made in the USA.

For SRA and reservist training we recommend the Recon series, a complete and reliable package. The competition-built Custom models are designed for fast double taps and recoil control. Our team shooters shoot all their rifle competitions with NC rifles, and we are the official importer and long-term partner of Nordic Components in Finland.

Which NC rifle suits your discipline?

For SRA and reservist training the best choice is the Recon, for competition the SRA Custom, for PCC the NC9 PCC and for Minirifle the NC-22 LR. Configurations and parts vary by model, so ask us for the exact build.

SRA and reservist training

Recommendation: NC Recon

The Recon series is practically a complete package for SRA and reservist training: service-style, easy to handle and reliable. If we had to recommend one rifle for this use, it would be the Recon. A more affordable alternative is the Mil-Spec Pro.

IPSC Rifle and competition SRA

Recommendation: NC SRA Custom or Aawee Custom 18"

The Custom models (SRA Custom 14.5" and Aawee Custom 18") are built as ready-made competition rifles. Recoil behaviour and fast double taps are the starting point of the design, so the sight returns to the target quickly. On the range these rifles engage targets from under ten metres to beyond three hundred.

A quality base for your own upgrades

Recommendation: NC Marksman

The idea behind the Marksman is that the permit-required parts are high quality from the start. The trigger has already been upgraded, but not everything has been changed, since many shooters want to choose some of the parts themselves. A good choice if you want to finish the rifle for your own use.

PCC

Recommendation: NC9 PCC

Nordic Components makes one pistol caliber carbine, available with different barrel lengths. The same model has won PCC Nordic Championship medals. A pistol caliber is soft shooting and affordable to train with.

Minirifle

Recommendation: NC-22 LR rimfire rifle

For Minirifle, NC offers one model, available with different barrel lengths. Our team won the 2025 IPSC Mini Rifle team World Championship with it.

What is the difference between the NC model series?

The Recon is a service-style rifle, while the Custom models are pure competition rifles. Both work in any use, but the emphasis differs. Individual parts are updated over time, so below are the main differences between the model series.

Recon Custom models Mil-Spec Pro Marksman
Character Service-style Pure competition rifle More affordable package Quality base
Focus Handling and reliability Recoil behaviour and fast double taps Good value for money High-quality permit-required parts
Best for SRA, reservist training IPSC, competition SRA SRA, reservist training Shooters who do their own upgrades
Readiness Complete package Ready competition rifle Complete rifle, upgrade as needed Trigger upgraded, otherwise moderate spec

Recon: service-style and ready to go

The Recon is built with handling and reliability first, and its parts and construction follow the spirit of a service rifle. The Recon also has an adjustable gas block. That is why it suits reservist training just as well as SRA competition.

Custom models: built for competition

The Custom models are tuned for the demands of the competition range. Recoil stays controlled and the sight returns to the target quickly, so double taps break faster. A competition rifle does not limit its use, though, and the Custom works anywhere the Recon does.

Is a competition rifle prone to malfunctions?

An NC competition rifle is not prone to malfunctions. We get asked this a lot, because competition rifles have a reputation for running only when clean and fed with good ammunition. NC rifles, including the Custom models, are built to be reliable and do not need constant cleaning.

Malfunctions can be caused by the setting itself. If the adjustable gas block is set so low that the rifle barely cycles, any rifle will start to act up with dirt, cold or weaker ammunition. Leave a safety margin in the setting, and the rifle will run while recoil still stays soft.
